It is now over a year since we took over Iken Barns and we would like to thank all our customers for choosing to stay here, often year on year and some more than once a year! It is also high time that we share with you some of our plans for Iken Barns, so do read on to find out more.

Refurbishments

Over the past year, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of our customers. In response to their feedback, we have completed the first phase of upgrades to Farriers, Old Mill House, Greenacres and Lambings, with improvements to the overall decor, bathroom configurations and fittings, as well as new bespoke soft furnishings, sofas and furniture. We’ve also installed sound proofing between Greenacres and Lambings!

The second phase of improvements will start next year to upgrade the decor in Gardeners Den, Bay View and Estuary Barn.

Landscaping

As for the outside space, we can see great potential for re-landscaping around the barns, so we are planning to introduce a grassy area with shrubs and small trees in the courtyard in front of the Iken Barns Office, and a walled kitchen garden in the courtyard next to the Livery. This will improve the view from the cottages and provide additional outside space for strolling, sitting and even for picking fruit and vegetables!

More Reasons to visit…
  • Snape Maltings has a farmers market on the first Saturday in the month, various art exhibitions as well as various dance and music events throughout the year. The next series of concerts are the Snape Proms (29th July – 28th August) which you can book with Aldeburgh Music.
  • Snape Maltings also hosts the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival (24th & 25th September).
  • Glemham Hall hosts Folk East, a festival for traditional and modern folk music from 19th – 21st August.
