Iken is one of the best places in Suffolk to view rare birds, especially in the winter time, We have joined up with the RSPB to offer membership and walks from Iken Barns and nearby reserves Snape and Minsmere.
Iken and the Alde estuary provide the perfect place for a variety of waders,
wildfowl, raptors and wintering finches. We have an abundance of Swallows in residence from mid April at Iken Barns and you will usually catch shelducks, curlew and little egrets, black-tailed godwits and redshanks on the estuary, listen out in the evening and you may hear the owls, if you are an early riser you might catch them hunting on the marshes you may even catch a marsh harrier. As for other wildlife we have some regular seals here a good variety of butterflies, dragonflies and wild flowers, including sea lavender near the estuary.
You can now join the RSPB at Iken Barns and benefit from special deals.
